New General Membership Orientation
Thank you for your interest in the work of the Community Wellness Council! Below are some resources for learning more about us and how you can participate.

Step 1: Overview of CWC with our brochure: Click through the slide show for each panel or download the PDF.

Step 2: Understand our governance: Feel free to view our bylaws.

Step 3:Understand our process for community input and priority selection. Every three years we undertake a health profile update and community needs assessment process to inform health planning and policy making. We host events, have a presence at health fairs and provide presentations around the community to get the public's input. This process can take up to a year to reach deeply into Valencia County and give opportunity to as many people as possible to have a part in the selection of health priorities. Our latest products from the assessment done in 2019 are here:

Step 4:Be aware of our current funding sources and deliverables (the work we do for that money).
  • Presbyterian Community Health:  Community Health Needs Assessment and activities to improve outcomes on chosen priorities
  • Dept. of Health: Capacity Building - trainings that improve our skills as community health leaders and development of coalitions at the local level to effect systems change and inform statewide planners of local needs.
  • PIRE: Funds the collection of primary data through the yearly New Mexico Community Survey on perceptions around high risk behaviors.

Step 5: Understand how the Community-Selected Priorities are supported by our activities:
